Will it work??
Earlier this year, I wrote about why the Steam Deck is Special on 2025-01-13.
The one Handheld that Windows can not replicate or copy
Where I discussed the three special things that the Steam Deck has more than any other Windows handheld. OS, Screen technology, and its loyal customers. Sure it's not the most powerful Handheld of right now but It Has 40hz screen technology, A less Bloated interface, And It has more buttons than God has ever placed in 1 controller. It's quality over quantity.
With the Announcement of the AMD Z2 line of Hanhelds APUs heading to the market this year And Valve adding SteamOS installs on the ROG Ally/Ally x and on Lenovo Legion /Legion Go handhelds. Plus with the least shocking announcement of the Microsoft+Asus ROG line of Handhelds, it's quantity over quality.
Because!! all Windows handhelds doesn't have trackpads 4 buttons on the back or 40hz screen tech
They're just the same!!!!
The XBOX ROG Ally as they call it will have 2 versions of the powerful Z2 lines with the Extereme on the Ally X and the non-Extreme on the ROG Ally. The design is the same but it's a freaking huge big ass screen with an Xbox controller glued together. The Trailer is funny to me because they said the product was made for Hardcore AAA gamers who can play all their PC games on the go "Any storefront available on Windows. And Blah blah blah. There is no given release date or price. But maybe around the holiday season? for maybe $649-$699
I do know that the z2 extreme will have better performance thanks to AMD Frame-Gen FSR technology meaning games like FFXIV and older games from the 2020s will finally be or I guess butter smooth locked at 60fps for the first time. Given all the previews I understand that it will have something like the XBOX UI that will counteract the stability of Windows bloat by half. Meaning performance might be better and fewer Windows updates.
I am super surprised by this alignment of events. Given how XBOX is no longer I guess a closed system since the Xbox console is leaning on game pass and maybe from the rumors willing to have the Steam and Epic game stores on its next-gen Xbox consoles.
I am still unimpressed. Even though inside my heart I freaking would love it. I still love my SteamDeck and its Features.
I am willing to wait for a SteamDeck 2
